Heartbreaking News on UPS Incident: Death Toll Climbs to 13

The total count of lives lost from the freight aircraft which ignited and went down has risen to 13, according to official announcements.

Official's Announcement

“On my way to the Teamsters’ candlelight gathering, I learned of a 13th person that passed away as a consequence of the aircraft accident,” wrote the local official in a online message. “My heart is with the relatives, associates and colleagues of all who were taken in this recent disaster. We will get through this together.”

Casualties Named

An announcement from UPS named the flight crew aboard the McDonnell Douglas MD-11 as Captain Richard Wartenberg, Co-pilot Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.

“Our hearts reach out to every staff member who has been impacted and everyone in our community community – assisting you and guaranteeing you receive the care and resources you need is our main concern,” the company’s statement read.

Probe Findings

Federal officials announced that the freight aircraft’s port side wing burst into flames and an engine separated just after takeoff from the aviation hub, resulting in the aircraft to crash and burst into a fireball.

The safety agency stated it is probing the jet’s service record, that was in the state for fixes several weeks prior to the incident.

Aviation data revealed the jet was on the tarmac in that location from the start of last month to last week.

“We are aware that this jet was present in the facility,” said an official on Thursday, without providing a exact period. “We will review every piece of repairs that was completed, from the Texas period, right up to the date of the trip.”

Retrieval of Vital Items

The cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder were found, and the motor was located on the tarmac.

The recorders – called data containers – were designed to withstand crash impacts and intense temperatures from blazes, and they looked to be in one piece when located amid the wreckage. Officials plan on reviewing recordings from the recorders.

The plane’s concluding flight details displayed an elevation of 475 ft and a velocity of that speed ahead of the accident.

Maintenance Record

Based on FAA records from last month, a crack on a part within the tank area demanded repairs.

Singapore-based ST Engineering, which said it supplies structural repairs for the carrier’s MD-11 and operates a service location in San Antonio, declined to comment, but said it would work closely when investigators contacted it.

Activities Restart

In the meantime, the hub services restarted that evening with its express also known as night sort process, official Jim Mayer stated. The three landing strips at Louisville Muhammad Ali international airport were likewise open again.

The sorting center in the city is the organization’s most significant. The hub engages more than a large number of individuals in the region, handles 300 aircraft per day and organizes more than 400,000 parcels per hour.

Public Reaction

A candlelight vigil was conducted on the night of recently by the area worker’s group, which supports staff at the aviation hub, the organization’s largest air cargo hub.

The union chapter, which represents UPS workers, started the gathering with a period of reflection at that time, the approximate moment of the incident previously.

“This incident was so unexpected, so unexpected,” the official addressed the assembly of two hundred. “No one had a chance to part to each of those who we have said farewell to.”
